The materials I chose and why
Aotomori sandals not only prioritize comfort for your feet, but also carefully select materials with a view toward their return to the earth. We'd like to introduce you to the choices we've made, which are reflected in each and every pair.
Recycled Natural Rubber - The heart of a sole
Aotomori's carefully selected Moochuu sandal soles are made from approximately 90% recycled natural rubber. Rubber that would otherwise have been discarded has been given a new life as soft, elastic, and durable footwear.
The grip of new rubber, the breathability of well-worn leather sandals. All in a new sandal form that is far more environmentally friendly than synthetic materials. Plus, there's no break-in period, so you can enjoy true comfort from day one.
Recycled Natural Rubber
About 90% of the sole is recycled natural rubber. We've given new life to materials that would otherwise have been discarded, transforming them into durable and elastic sandals.
Recycled EVA Outsole
The remaining 10% of the outsole is made from recycled EVA. This reduces environmental impact by reusing waste materials while maintaining grip and lightness.
Adaptive Comfort Sole
Crafted for everyday movement, the flexible footbed gently adjusts to your foot shape over time, creating a personalized and comfortable fit.
Gently woven strap
The strap is carefully woven from cotton and natural fibers. We chose materials that feel pleasant against the skin and develop more character with use.
The option not to use it
Our choice of materials is determined as much by what we DON'T use as by what we DO use. Aotomori sandals contain no synthetic adhesives or virgin plastics.
This method is by no means easy. That's why it takes time to make each pair, ensuring they last a long time and eventually return to nature.
