Introduction
AotoMori is a sandal brand established in Fukuoka in March 2026.
The founder, Ziv, worked in the footwear industry overseas for a long time. When he moved his base to Japan, he felt a sense of unease. He found it difficult to find sandals he could truly be satisfied with.
Most of the options were either cheap and short-lived, or expensive and heavy. There were also not many brands that provided transparency about the origin of their materials. We wanted to create an option that stood in between these extremes.
Our Three Promises
AotoMori sandals are built upon three promises.
1. No synthetic adhesives used
The lifespan of shoes is often determined by the degradation of adhesives. Adhesives break down before the materials do.
AotoMori sandals are assembled primarily using mechanical bonding, without synthetic adhesives. We aim for a structure that can be worn for as long as possible.
2. Respecting the origin of materials
The soles use over 90% recycled natural rubber.
We believe it's important not only to focus on comfort and appearance, but also on "what materials are used and how they are made."
3. Designs that encourage long-term use
Rather than simply chasing trends, we aim for designs that naturally blend into daily life and you'll want to wear for years to come.
Simple, light, and effortless to wear. We want our sandals to be a chosen staple for everyday use.
About the Brand Name
"Aoto" (碧) represents the sea and sky.
"Mori" (森) represents coexistence with nature.
Our desire is to forge a straightforward connection between those who wear our sandals, those who make them, and nature itself. That is the sentiment embedded in the name AotoMori.
Going Forward
AotoMori sandals are made in collaboration with the Thai workshop Moochuu. From material selection and assembly concepts to comfort and durable design, everything is carefully checked by us, through multiple visits to the site.
Going forward, this blog will gradually share information about our materials, the background of our craftsmanship, and how to care for your sandals.
